The most famous and significant aero plane of all time has to be the Wright Brothers Flyer.

At 10.35am on December 17th 1903 at the Kill Devil Hills, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, USA,

the Wright Flyer 1 accomplished the first sustained flight by a man carrying heavier than air machine.

The pilot, Orville Wright, kept the aircraft in the air for 12 seconds, covering about 120ft into a strong wind.

Three other flights were made that morning, Orville taking turns with his brother Wilbur.

The longest of 852ft lasted for 59 seconds.

The Flyer spanned 40ft and was sustained by a 12hp petrol engine driving two propellers.

It is now an honored exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.

Having reached this milestone in our Aviation history, it has been decided to bring the website to a close at this point.

We will however continue to make updates and amend the design of the pages, there are always additions to be added here & there, coming soon will be the Farnborough Airshow coverage from 1948 thru to 1960, an exciting prospect when the pages have been created.

We hope this website has provided a source of information and entertainment for you all, hopefully, you will continue to visit & check the updates, you can also make contact by e-mail on crazyheritage@sky.com  if you have any comments/suggestions to make on the site.
